John Dillon

Orthopaedic Surgeon

Mr John Dillon is a specialist orthopaedic surgeon holding dual fellowships with the Royal Australian College of Surgeons and the Royal College of Surgeons Ireland. John moved to Australia from Ireland in 2011 and now lives in Ballarat where he runs Grampians Hip and Knee Clinic and specialises exclusively in the treatment of hip and knee replacement surgery. He has specialised in the field of orthopaedic surgery for over 20 years.

After completing his orthopaedic training, John spent a year at the internationally renowned Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital in London – the largest specialist orthopaedic hospital in the UK- refining his skills in hip and knee replacement surgery. Since relocating to Australia, he has built a reputation for high quality orthopaedic care and a patient centred approach.

In his practice, he uses both robotic and non-robotic knee replacement surgery and performs hip replacement through both the anterior and posterior approach. He focuses on individualised care and tailors treatment to his patient’s level of function and activity, occupational and lifestyle needs and personal preferences.

Through his work in Ballarat, Hamilton and Werribee, Mr Dillon provides patients across Melbourne’s Western corridor with convenient access to specialist hip and knee expertise closer to home.

Outside of his consulting and surgical work, John is head of teaching for orthopaedic and musculoskeletal medicine at Deakin Medical School (Geelong).
